Shirley Shepherd began her art training in the early 70's, working in oils under the teaching of Peggy Sullens in Lilburn, GA. With working full time and raising two children, little time was left to explore art.
In 1995, however, Ms. Shepherd was introduced to watercolor by a friend. She loved the boldness of color and the fluidity of working with this medium. She then studied under the tutelage of Lynn Weisbach of Roswell, GA when she was introduced to many forms of watermedia. With her love of color and the excitement of new techniques, this artist has succeeded in becoming a Signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and has won several awards in state and regional competitions.
Shirley works in watercolor, acrylic, watercolor pencil, watercolor crayons and loves using textures in the creation of art, including the use of stained Japanese washi papers, fabric, etc.
